    穆罕默德•坎特：用科技回报祖国

    从本月开始，马里首都巴马科的30名四年级和五年级学生就得努力学习了——因为他们将成为iNERDE的营员。iNERDE是默罕默德•坎特创建的一个暑期项目，旨在为自己的祖国带来科学、技术、工程与数学（STEM）教育机会。坎特于2003年移民到美国，取得了东北大学（Northeastern University）的电子工程学学位。在东北大学，坎特和几位同学共同为残疾人研发出一款用眼睛控制的机械喂食手臂。他希望自己祖国的孩子们同样能够学会如何利用科学技术解决社区中的问题。坎特说，在非洲，“科学技术才是我们的未来。”

    Starting this month, 30 fourth- and fifth-graders in Bamako, Mali, will get to be total nerds—that is, campers at iNERDE, the summer program Mohamed Kante founded to bring STEM education opportunities to his native country. Kante immigrated to the U.S. in the summer of 2003 and earned a degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. It was at Northeastern where Kante and a few classmates developed an eye-controlled robotic feeding arm for people with disabilities. Similarly, he wants kids back home to learn how they can use science and tech to solve problems in their community. Throughout Africa, says Kante, “technology is our future.”
